Casey and Bobby originally met in the third grade but I bet they never thought that decades later they would be hosting their Culpepper Virginia wedding in their hometown, surrounded by friends and family! They kept their wedding close to home, just a few minutes down the road at their family church, and followed it with a rustic homespun reception at Brandy Hill Farm. Casey and Bobby’s families came together to create some truly special touches such as the guest book signing quilt by the groom’s mother and woodworking décor details by the bride’s father. Keeping true to their personal style, they opted for red and blue color accents in the barn and the bride wore her own cowboy boots under her gown!! Thank you to Stephanie Messick Photography for sharing this fun country rustic wedding with us today!
From the Bride: “Everything was hand made at our reception. I made all the paper flowers, painted signs, table numbers, banners, tree cookies. My hubby, father and father-in-law cut all the tree cookies for me and I dried them sanded and Polly urethane. My dad made the bar, the frame where I hung the pictures, the candle sticks at the wedding, and my card box (which was a tree log SO COOL).
Some personal details: All of my aunts made home made cookies, chocolates and mints for what most PA people called the ‘cookie table.’ We did the bridal dance, also known as the dollar dance, and the bag we used to collect the money was actually my mom and grandmothers dress. The dress was also used to wrap the basket that my niece, the flower girl, carried down the aisle. My pearls were my grandmother’s wedding gift from my grandfather and both she and my mom wore them at their weddings.”
Tips from the Bride: “I am glad we had a longer engagement and had time to plan out the whole wedding. I was able to enjoy the day and was hardly worried about anything. We had a day of coordinator, and I could not be more thankful I did! It took so much pressure off of me and my mom. We put a binder together for her of all the contracts, contacts and timeline.
Someone else gave me this advice but I was so worth it: Remember to step back and look at everything once in awhile throughout your special day. It’s amazing to see all of your hard work being enjoyed. Several times at my receptions I stood back and watched everyone and I am so glad I did!”
