You know we love anything Washington DC and wedding, right!? Well, today’s featured wedding in the city combines all of our favorites – the DC skyline, a wedding and a beautiful couple in love! Kate and Bobby tied the knot at the gorgeous St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church in Washington DC.  The darling pair, who beamed with love on their wedding day, opted for this Washington DC wedding location because of the connection Bobby had to it from his childhood. It certainly helped that the space was stunning and oh-so fitting for a grand wedding in the city too  In chilly fall weather, the bride and her bridesmaids were adorned with elegant wraps to keep them warm in their gowns, while the guys donned black tuxedos for the formal event – fitting of the setting! Their wedding theme of Washington DC was in full effect throughout the day with fabulous city-specific wedding invitations and more great paper details to match, which will follow tomorrow when we feature their reception. With touches of DIY and oodles of elegance, this couple found the perfect marriage between personalization and sophistication on their wedding day. A special thanks to Don Mears Photography for sharing Kate and Bobby’s beautiful Washington DC church wedding ceremony with us!

From the bride: We were most inspired by the places in Washington DC where the wedding and reception were taking place. The wedding was held in St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church. The church associated with Gonzaga High School, where Bobby attended. This church is a precious gem in Washington D.C. with gorgeous stained glass, soaring ceilings and incredible architectural details. All while on North Capitol Street with an unobscured view of the U.S. Capitol Building’s dome.

The entire wedding ceremony is a beautiful blur. I loved walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing the faces of people who have made Bobby and me the people we are today. Then to walk back down the aisle with Bobby and see the happiness on our friend’s and family’s faces after becoming husband and wife.

The toasts by our best man and maid of honor were a fantastic combination of funny and heartfelt.

Our friend doing a rousing rendition of Rocket Man with the band during the reception was also memorable!

As our guests got on to shuttles back to the hotel, Bobby and I decided to walk. We left the Corcoran and crossed the ellipse back to The Willard hotel. On our way we were congratulated by the Secret Service and tourists taking in the beauty of DC at midnight.

At our wedding ceremony, two of my former pre-k students handed out programs. Our wedding guests loved these adorable little gentlemen.
