Welcome to today’s lovely and super sweet wedding in Virginia where the bride and the groom celebrated their wedding their way and we couldn’t be more excited for them! Stephanie and Glen tied the knot in an intimate ceremony and elopement in White Post, Virginia at the beautiful bed and breakfast L’Auberge Provencale. The couple opted for something small, where they could all just relax and enjoy their wedding day stress-free. They also selected that special day (and date), based on the lucky number eight, part of the groom’s Chinese culture. We love it when couples infuse not only their favorite things into their wedding celebration, but their family heritage too! Their elegant, outdoor garden wedding ceremony was picture perfect and just what they wanted, complete with rustic flowers, and family all around.

Speaking of family, the bride’s sister is none other than DC area wedding photographer Michelle Lindsay Photography, You might recognize this cute couple from their bicycle themed wedding engagement session that Michelle photographed in Virginia. Their wedding engagement session was so adorable we had to make it into two parts when they went to their favorite restaurant for the second part!

After Stephanie and Glen tied the knot, a lovely and intimate dinner was had, followed by a larger party a few months later to celebrate with their friends. Stephanie and Glen certainly knew how to get the best of both worlds and exactly what they wanted on their wedding day! A special thanks to {A}strid Photography for sharing Stephanie and Glen’s beautiful Washington DC area wedding photos with us!

From the bride: For our wedding, we wanted a small, intimate family wedding in a setting where we could all relax and enjoy the day. Everyone involved in our wedding ceremony was family, which included our officiant who is my future brother-in-law. Also, our wedding date was selected, because 8 is a lucky number in Glen’s Chinese culture.

After the wedding ceremony concluded, our family, who had been gathered around us as we were married, all began hugging each other. Our photographer, Astrid, captured each of these hugs and special moments, and they are some of my favorite memories and images from the wedding day. It really shows us all becoming a family that day!

Although we thoroughly enjoyed the intimacy of our wedding day, it still felt important to celebrate this occasion with our greater family and friends. As such, we had a party at the Hendry House about a month and a half after our wedding. It was a great way to have the relaxing, private ceremony we wanted, but still have the fun times with those we love.

Advice from the bride for other Washington DC area couples:

If you’re considering a small elopement-style wedding ceremony, look into what options are available just outside the city of Washington DC for a special event. Just because your wedding will be small, doesn’t mean it can’t be special!
