Welcome back to part two of today’s featured sophisticated wedding in rural Virginia right in the middle of the forest. Mary Beth and Chris tied the knot at camp! Literally, the pair selected a Washington DC area wedding location that had been the spot where the bride went to summer camp as a kid! Then, Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs, Virginia became home to their outdoor wedding ceremony (which you can see here if you missed it!) and their indoor colorful wedding reception. With the help of their wedding planner, Bellwether Events, Mary Beth and Chris’ sophisticated country wedding was filled with yellows, purples, reds, blues, grey and white too. But, the tractor transportation and photo op might just be my personal fave in the details! Everything in their wedding day was fitting of the rustic location and sophisticated country theme, right down to the basket weave wedding cake design and s’mores around the campfire at the end of the evening. Their wedding was clearly loads of fun! And since it was set in a rural part of Virginia, the party was private and that much more intimate in feel with friends and loved ones all around. A big thanks to photographer, Holland Photo Arts, for sharing Mary Beth and Chris’ big rustic wedding day with us.
From the bride: Our number one wedding priority was being with the people we love and making sure they were comfortable being at Shrine Mont. We spent a long time preparing our wedding website with detailed travel instructions, hotel accommodations, attire suggestions, and more. We also wanted our non-church-goer wedding guests to feel comfortable during our traditional Episcopal wedding ceremony, so we spent a long time making a full-text service bulletin so that everyone could follow along. We splurged on a great caterer (Harvest Moon from Charlottesville, VA), our amazing photographers Bill and Anne Holland (Holland Photo Arts), and the live band (Walrus Band from Sam Hill Entertainment). We love photo booths, but chose not to have one at our wedding, because we didn’t want to distract from all the awesome dancing!!
A great wedding photographer is so important! After your wedding day, the pictures they take and your memories will be all you have to remember that day. We loved Bill and Anne Holland from Holland Photo Arts!!!
The bride’s advice for other Washington DC area couples:
Hire a wedding planner for your wedding. Specifically, we recommend Janice Carnevale of Bellwether Events! She is incredible! Her professional, yet fun, personality took the stress out of wedding planning and allowed us to focus on each other and the life we were starting together!
Remember that your wedding is one day, and your marriage is forever. Make sure your marriage is the priority and not your wedding. Thanks to the help of our wedding planner, Janice Carnevale, we were able to stay focused on what mattered and still have an incredible wedding day!
Congratulations to Mary Beth and Chris! Thank you for sharing your Virginia camp wedding reception with us!
