Welcome back part two of Jennifer and Mike’s classic and fun wedding in downtown Washington DC overlooking the Mall. Jennifer and Mike celebrated with friends and loved ones at DAR in Washington DC, where both their wedding ceremony and reception were held. In case you missed their chic indoor DC wedding ceremony, be sure to check it out here. After the knot was tied, it was time to celebrate their union at a reception among beautiful tall and low wedding floral centerpieces and personal touches at ever turn. One of my favorite details has to be their “Best. Day. Ever” cocktail napkins to match “his” and “hers” signature drinks. How creative!? With the help of Roberts & Co. Events, their big day came together perfectly and their wedding guests were treated with goodies throughout the evening. Everyone in attendance at the wedding even got a single stem flower that doubled as an escort card to take to their seats. Such a great wedding idea – and so beautiful all lined up together before the guests entered the wedding reception room. Jennifer and Mike’s Washington DC wedding had just about every detail you would want at a swanky city big day – including lots of love and huge smiles! Thanks to Lisa Boggs Photography for sharing Jennifer and Mile’s beautiful Washington DC area wedding reception photos!
From the bride: Our main wedding day priorities revolved around a great party! Food, alcohol, and music!
We definitely splurged on our wedding photographer (Lisa Boggs Photography), because she had photographed at the DAR, and I LOVED the photos that she had already done. We also decided to splurge on photography since at the time, we were not going to get a videographer. Live music was another big wedding priority for us. We shopped around a bit and ultimately settled on the Bachelor Boys Band, and could not have been happier.
We had a last minute splurge addition on our videographer (due to some grandparents not being able to attend), and we definitely regretted that decision. Our photographer was phenomenal and we did not need our videographer. We did not love the end video product and the videographer was not the best to work with, and I think it may had to do with the fact we were looking last minute, they were not the first-choice and it wasn’t their main videographer.
Michael and I met in class, and Tabitha had a beautiful escort card display made that represented our meeting. We did not want our wedding to scream certain theme or topic, but the escort cards were held by test tubes with flowers and a sign that had said “It all started with chemistry…”. It was beautiful and so thoughtful. We re-used it for our backdrop to the photobooth.
My (Jen) favorite wedding day memory was when our photographer took us aside during the evening to take some late night photos in the library at the DAR. We had so much fun goofing off in the library, specifically the balcony area! It was fun to just enjoy some private moments in such a whirlwind of a night. I also LOVED seeing all of the photobooth photos the next day – that was fun to look back on.
Congratulations to Jennifer and Mike! Thank you for sharing your stunning pink and gold Washington DC wedding reception with us!
