Are you read to head up to Capitol Hill today for something other than politics?? Erin and Robert held their Washington DC wedding ceremony in the grand church St. Peters On Capitol Hill, where they wed during a beautiful formal mass. The wedding was picture perfect, right from the start with celebratory wedding invitations and save-the-date cards that reflected the city of DC and even a few personal touches. The bride and groom opted for a bold color palette, a cheerful pairing of bright yellow and royal blue, a nod to the groom’s alma mater, University of Michigan! Their collegiate wedding inspiration certainly made for some standout wedding decor – and fashion too! Erin’s beautiful summery bridal bouquet was perfect for the season, and it even matched her dapper groom! I love how the personalities of this darling couple are so clear through all of their wedding decor and details. Thanks to Photography by Marirosa for sharing Erin and Robert’s lovely (and full of love!) Washington DC wedding photos with us!
From the bride: We knew we wanted a Michigan themed and yellow and blue colored wedding, as that is where Robert attended undergraduate school. We wanted a traditional, but extremely fun wedding. The most important thing to us for our wedding was to have our friends and family there with us and share in the wedding day. My mom handmade my wedding garter, just like she had for her own wedding.
The most special piece for our wedding was a custom hair piece made of my grandmothers old brooches, pins and earrings. I also wore my grandmother’s earrings, necklace, and ring. She passed away when I was 10 so having those pieces were all extremely sentimental.
At the beginning of our wedding ceremony, our parents met us at the end of the church aisle and we were able to hug and kiss and share a moment, just the six of us. It was a great way to start our marriage with the love and support of our parents who are our role models for successful and happy marriages.
Congratulations to Erin and Robert! Thank you for sharing your church wedding ceremony on Capitol Hill with us! Stay tuned, because up next we’ll share with you their college inspired wedding reception.
