Good morning, I hope you are ready for soft romance today! Rachel and Kurt wed in a beautiful mint and gold inspired wedding in Washington DC at St. Francis Hall, which was home to both their wedding ceremony and reception. You never know what the weather will be on your wedding day here in the DC area, so Rachel and Kurt’s wedding is a great example of why you should love your “plan b” wedding location! Beyond the rain, this bride was not afraid of getting hands-on with lots of DIY wedding projects and even using United With Love to help plan the big day and you know we love that! We just love the paddles ceremony program fans using their wedding engagement photos, and can’t get enough of their style – the guys looking dapper in their grey suits (and new watches!) and the gals in pastel gowns to compliment the blushing bride in a sweetheart neckline wedding dress. Rain or shine, this wedding group was going to have a great time and clearly from the looks of these fabulous photos by Ken Pak Photography, a little bad weather couldn’t slow them down!

From Rachel: Although we didn’t necessarily have a “theme,” our wedding inspiration was primarily based off of our color palette. We loved the colors mint and gold, and knew that these colors would provide for a fresh, but elegant wedding day ambiance. Kurt and I used our Ghanaian and Jamaican heritages to also influence many details of our special day.

I got a lot of great ideas from United With Love. The blog actually helped us decide on our venue – St. Francis Hall. wedding-fans-washington-dc-wedding-Ken-Pak-Photography wedding-jewelry-washington-dc-wedding-Ken-Pak-Photography

The wedding day began with the weather forecast not looking too great. It rained pretty much all day until an hour before the wedding started, so we had to move everything indoors. Luckily we had a backup plan in case of bad weather, and with the help of our coordinators and the venue, the day went smoothly!

My favorite wedding day memory was the exchanging of our wedding vows. It was so touching to pour our hearts out to each other in the midst of our closest friends and family.
