Liz and Jay hosted their downtown Washington DC wedding ceremony at the beautiful Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament church where friends and family gathered to witness true love at its sweetest! The pretty pair opted for a swanky purple and lavender themed church wedding and Liz certainly has a beautiful sense of style – from her wedding shoes to rosary, a lovely lace wedding dress and all topped off with that blushing bride smile, of course! You might even recognize this cute couple because we featured their wedding proposal Georgetown. Even the purple-clad bridesmaids had beautiful bouquets befitting of a bride herself! Liz and Jay beamed as they said “I do!” and thanks to photographer, Saperstone Studioes, we’ve got every precious and perfect moment for you to see here!
From Liz: We wanted a relaxed, NY/DC wedding while still staying fairly traditional. We wanted it to feel light, airy and spring-y since we were getting married in April, right at the end of cherry blossom season. We wanted the colors to pop since the cherry blossoms at the Fairmont hotel would still be in bloom, so we picked purple and white with green accents as the color palette for our wedding.
I had two wedding veils, a cathedral length for the wedding ceremony and an elbow length for the wedding reception. My cousin wore both veils at her wedding. There was a tear in the cathedral length that my mom was able to fix, but it meant so much to me to be wearing something from a family members wedding. And no one noticed the tear!
One thing I splurged on was my wedding dress. It was an Eve of Milady dress. I did not plan to spend a lot on my dress, but when I put it on, I never wanted to take it off. My mom ended up buying the dress for me and it was perfect.
My favorite wedding-day memory was taking pictures in the rain at the Key Bridge with my husband. We had planned to take pictures there and when it started raining, we decided we wanted to go for it and take pictures in the rain. We had to climb over fences, try to avoid the mud as much as possible and take pictures with just two umbrellas between us and the photographers. The pictures are incredible and it was a time from our wedding that was very intimate because it was only us.
Congratulations to Liz and Jay! Thank you for sharing your beautiful purple and lavender inspired wedding ceremony with us! Stay tuned; up next we’re going to share with you their fun and oh-so colorful reception with you!
