Welcome back to the second half of Cristina and Gonzalo’s dreamy summer wedding in Maryland. (Make sure you take a look at their beautiful traditional wedding ceremony first!) These two cuties took their vision for a classic summer wedding at The Oak Room and paired a mint and coral color palette with plenty of DIY wedding details—and llamas! Love it. See it all captured by Elizabeth Fogarty Photography right here…

From Cristina: The reception was where most of the hard work went. Making sure each table had the perfect decorations and the details for the name cards, guestbook, and gift tables. We focused a lot in that because we wanted or guests to have a great time!

Since we are both Peruvian, I wanted to bring in some of that culture in a cute, humorous yet classy way that matched with our style. I bought little tiny cultural hand painted bulls and snuck them into the bouquets of each of my bridesmaids. I also put pairs of gold and white llama figurines on display on tables guests would interact with.

I cut out table numbers from thick paper board and painted and glittered them and my wonderful husband found a way to make them stand with painted blocks of wood. I LOVE to dance so we focused on a great DJ that would make it tons of fun. Our wedding is a celebration! Plus, we’re Peruvians and dancing was very important to us!

Cristina’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:

Don’t take the wedding planning too seriously. Stay organized but have time to retreat for quiet moments alone. Remember that the main goal of a wedding is the commitment you’re going to make to be together forever and nothing should ruin that for you two.
