Welcome back to Amanda and Matt’s summer wedding in Maryland! This super cute duo headed outside the city for their celebration of love (Wait a minute! You first need to check out their vineyard wedding ceremony!) with a touch of country chic, of course! Look Wedding Photography was on hand to capture all the pretty DIY details, including those gorgeous floral pink centerpieces! Love, love, love!
From Amanda: When Matt and I began to plan our wedding, we didn’t have a specific vision in mind, but did have an idea of how we wanted our wedding to feel to us and to our guests. Our first priority was that our wedding was unique, was fun for our guests from beginning to end, and most of all, a reflection of our relationship. We wanted our wedding to be a day not only we would remember, but also our guests would look back on and say “Now THAT was a great wedding!”
The winery was a unique space for us city-dwellers to have our wedding, and from the selection of our venue, the color palette and theme flowed. We ended up with an almost country chic theme with mason jars, chalkboard signs, etc.
We landed on a navy blue, silver, and shades of pink for our color palette (and this coming from a girl who hated pink!). In the natural setting, I really liked the preppy pop of the navy and pinks.
Matt’s mother did our table centerpieces from scratch the night before. We used cigar boxes and filled them with peonies, hydrangeas, roses, and other beautiful flowers! I had one photo from Pinterest that I loved, and Matt’s mother was able to recreate the design. Surrounding the flowers we had mason jars with candles in them, and “T” monograms glued onto the jars. We printed out the menus for each table and put them in an IKEA frame – very cost effective for us!
At the reception, we had a table full of glow sticks for guests to help us light up the dance floor. I can’t decide if the adults or kids loved it more!
Amanda’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:
Write down a budget at the beginning of your planning process, and actively update each line item so you can see how you are doing in comparison to your original budget. I found this to be very helpful in our planning process, and it helped curtail some unnecessary spending by looking at the numbers objectively.
