When it comes to favorite wedding day inspiration, we love anything fashion over here, so it goes without saying how pumped I am for today’s wedding fashion ideas from Janice at Bellwether Events. With a dream team of local wedding pros behind the scenes, these wedding ideas are the perfect pop of color for this dreary winter weather we have been having here in DC and from one of my favorite places to snag designer dresses — Rent the Runway. (Did you know there is now a Rent The Runway boutique in Georgetown?! Yes, you can go and try on your looks or bring your bridesmaids and have a dress party!) Janice put together these seasonal-inspired wedding day looks, all beautifully captured by Katie Stoops Photography, for brides and maids using Rent the Runway dresses and accessories. You could do any of these looks for your wedding, for your bridesmaids or any of your wedding events like bridal shower and rehearsal dinner. We’ll let Janice tell you a little more about her inspiration…
From Janice: Its been well documented that I am more than mildly obsessed with plastic pink flamingos. So in the dead of DC winter I decided to put together an inspiration shoot based on this obsession. After looking high and low for the perfect pink wedding dress that was accessible to me at the time, I came to the conclusion that I had to shift my focus. But during my search, I was reminded that Rent the Runway has awesome options at very affordable prices, and decided to take my project in a more fashion-heavy direction. There were so many RTR dresses that I loved, I decided to do 4 mini inspiration shoots to represent the 4 seasons.
For spring, we have a flowing white dress for our bride model and a fun pink and gray printed dress for our maid model. I paired these simple dresses with awesome statement necklaces and instead of traditional bouquets, Holly created amazing tropical hair pieces for the models to wear!
The summer vignette features a sequined pink “bridal” gown and a bright turquoise dress for the “maid.” Holly created an amazing composite tulip bouquet for the bride that turned out to be the star of the shoot, and a funky wrist corsage for the maid.
How the fall vignette turned out surprised me the most – look at those amazing succulents! I know succulents are are not new, but how many times do you see them on a belt or necklace! Holly really outdid herself here; again. And the mustard maid’s dress is out of this world. It looks incredible with the bride’s ivory and gold lace gown. We gave the bridal model a small veil with this look, to formalize the look a little bit.
Winter, though, is my favorite, as I dream of New Years Eve weddings every year (but have yet to plan one!). These dresses are out of this world. The rose gold sequined dress would be perfect for a NYE bride, and that fuchsia dress is definitely one your maids would be happy to don for a wedding. Don’t even get me started on the maid’s silver necklace – I want to wear it every day of my life.
