Is there anything better than seeing your wedding day vision become a reality? I think not! Lucky for, Kristen and Chris’ vision of a timeless wedding in Virginia is here for us to swoon over all afternoon straight from the lens of Michelle Lindsay Photography. (Hope you did not have too much on your to-do list today!) After their breathtaking waterfall wedding ceremony at Trump National Golf Club, this super cute duo celebrated in style with lush blooms and pretty stationery, complete with a custom monogram, of course!
From Kristen: We wanted a wedding that was classic, timeless, and FUN! As an example, we walked in to “Bringing Sexy Back,” and then immediately transitioned to our first dance song, “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra. We chose a country club as the venue since we both play golf (fairly traditional), but then got married on a waterfall!
My father and stepfather both passed away, and they were definitely woven through the day – using my stepfather’s favorite quote on the program and dancing with my with my uncle for the father-daughter dance. At her insistence, I also danced with my mother to Martina McBride’s “In My Daughter’s Eyes.” As we wrapped up the mother-daughter dance, the bridesmaids (and my mom) broke into a surprise dance to Mama Mia by Abba (also my mom’s favorite movie). Those two dances were many guests favorite parts of the day!
We also named our signature cocktails after our mothers – we asked each mom to select a cocktail and served “The Linda” and “The Angela” at the reception. I love how everything came together.
Kristen’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:
Have fun while you are planning. We would open a bottle of wine and turn on some music when we arranged tables and seating. We took dance lessons which ended up being a fun date to look forward to each week. Enjoy this time – it’s pretty special. Also, do not stress about the weather. Even if it rains, you and your groom will barely notice. And you may just get some surprise sunshine.
