Welcome back to Karen and Selvin’s elegant wedding in Washington DC. If there was ever a pretty blue and yellow sophisticated wedding, this my friends, is it! (But don’t go on until you check out their traditional Catholic wedding ceremony first!) I am head over heels for the lush florals seen all over the Hyatt Regency Crystal City with Studio Saldana behind the camera lens to capture it all. And those custom candy bar favors? So stinkin’ cute!
From Karen: Our main priority was to plan an event that would be memorable for us and our guests but to try our best to stay within our budget.
We chose to splurge on uplighting, draping, and chair rentals in order to achieve the look that we wanted for the reception space. Of course these items are not a necessity, but they do so much to transform the feel and look of a ballroom and I knew that I would regret not having them.
Karen’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:
Don’t lose sight of what the day really symbolizes. People get caught up in the glamour and with keeping up with the latest trends that they forget what they are really working toward. Prioritize your planning, start early, and communicate with each other regarding the entire planning process. Don’t stress over every little thing. Don’t be afraid to ask your family and friends for help but don’t take advantage of their time. Let them know that you appreciate their efforts. It helps to have a very strong support system.
