This oh-so-sweet duo just nailed it for their wedding in Maryland. Laura and Mitchell crafted a wedding around their laid-back personalities and vision for a relaxed, fun wedding. The result? A stunning autumn soiree that is oozing with love and DIY wedding perfection. (But first, check out their barn wedding ceremony first!) These images from Borrowed Blue Photography speak for themselves and you can see it all right here…
From Laura: For the reception, I really wanted a fun relaxed party. We splurged on an awesome caterer with amazing food- fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. Although it wasn’t formal, it was delicious and everyone felt so relaxed. Instead of spending money on favors, we donated that money to two organizations that are really important to Mitch and I.
Instead of buying a wedding cake, my mom and I made three different flavors of cupcakes. We made them ahead of time and froze them, they were a huge hit.
So many people in my family used their special talents make our wedding very special. My sister spray painted the pumpkins white, and coated them with gold glitter. She also used her awesome artistic abilities to draw a tree, and all our guests stamped their thumbprint onto the branches to look like falling leaves, that was our guest book.
Laura’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:
My advice, although it may seem impossible, is to try to relax as much as you can. Don’t worry about things you can not control, like the weather. There is a great quote that says ” Worrying does not empty today of its troubles, it empties tomorrow of its strength.” You want to be strong and beautiful on your big day, and worrying is only going to make things worse. When we first started planning the wedding a year and a half before it happened, we got as much done as we could, and that helped immensely, when the big day grew closer, there was only a few little things left to do.
