When going for classic, autumn inspiration for your wedding in the Washington DC area, take a page out of this stunning wedding in Virginia. Marli and Chris were inspired by the jewel tones and the holiday festivities that the season brings. Amber Kay Photography was on hand to capture every sweet moment of their fall fête. Come back later this morning to see their classic wedding reception that features subtle hints of Halloween tucked throughout.
From Marli: I had always wanted a fall wedding; the jewel-toned colors and cool crisp air are a few of the reasons it is my favorite season. October is a special month to Chris and I – we started dating and also got engaged in October; so it felt like a natural progression to get married then. I wanted a classy, but at the same time, not stuffy kind of wedding. I wanted the combination of soft and strong – masculine and feminine.
My sister, a crafty goddess, helped us to design our invitations. We purchased the paper goods from bulk suppliers, printed them at home, and set up our own assembly line to get them pieced together in two nights. It was one of the most fun moments of the whole wedding for me.
We didn’t have any concrete ideas, lots of magazine clippings and internet links; but nothing was for sure, until we saw the venue. Once we saw those dark wood floors and exposed wood beams and how much natural light filled the entire space, we knew this was going to be the focal point of the wedding and everything started to fall into place.
Thank you so much Marli and Chris for sharing your wedding ceremony with us! Be sure to come back later this morning to see their reception. The following Washington DC area wedding professionals contributed to their wedding:
