Welcome back to the second part of Allie and Daniel’s summer wedding in Maryland. (But first, make sure you check out their traditional wedding ceremony first!) Their classic Southern affair came complete with the prettiest farm venue I’ve seen, and Birds of a Feather Photography has the photos to prove it! From their DIY chalkboard signs to the seriously delish looking pie bar, there was no detail left out by these two Texans for their Southern Maryland destination wedding.
From Allie: We had more of a feel in mind than a vision when we started our wedding planning. We wanted a romantic summer night, with a southern comfort atmosphere, good food, and great company. Anything too formal wouldn’t have fit our personalities, but with a traditional ceremony and a more casual reception, we hit a great happy medium.
We wanted subtle colors that lent itself to the vintage, rustic look we liked so we chose lighter shades of green and pink and the seersucker suits were a perfect fit for our color scheme and the style we were going for. All in all, everything came together in a way that really represented who we are.
We incorporated old leather suitcases that belonged to my grandfather, as well as a memorial table with pictures of lost loved ones.
Allie’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:
Plan early! We were planning from Texas, so we got most of the big things taken care of while we were home way in advance. Even then, a lot of little things have a way of sneaking up on you at the last minute. But I think the most important thing is to have people helping you that you know you can trust.
