Vibrant, colorful and filled to the brim with love, Ginly and Rob’s Virginia wedding reception captured by Lisa Boggs Photography is the epitome of fun! (Before you go on, make sure you check out their country club wedding ceremony!) Inspired by the summer season and dentistry (they met in dental school!), they put together a fun and personal wedding with lots of thought behind every detail from the tooth wedding cake toppers to the tooth piñata card box. Can you believe these two dentists had a colorful and yummy DIY candy bar buffet, too!? (You can also see their engagement session in Georgetown!)
From Ginly: We wanted a venue that had a lot of natural lighting and I instantly fell in love with Springfield Golf & Country Club when I saw those large windows overlooking the golf course.
We have been to many weddings where we weren’t sure what to do with the wedding favors afterwards so we decided that everyone loves something edible! Even though you can’t find fortune cookies in China, we decided that it was the perfect favor to combine both of our backgrounds. We even personalized the fortunes inside! It was probably one of the best purchases we made.
Even though I didn’t personally make them, the cake topper and the card box were handmade. Believe it or not, there really aren’t any dental-theme wedding items out there! I had a really hard time figuring out how to incorporate dentistry into the wedding card box but ended up finding someone to make a tooth pinata for us!
We wanted everyone to remember our wedding to be fun so we splurged on a photo booth and then did a DIY candy buffet. We borrowed vases and glass containers from family and friends. In order to save money, we skipped the color coordinated candies and opted for multicolored ones! I also hand stamped all 200 of the candy bags instead of buying ones that already had a label on them.
Ginly’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:
Always always meet with your vendors face to face if possible. We almost went with one vendor that had fabulous reviews online but when we met him, we knew right away that we didn’t click.
