Well, hello again! Are you ready for more from Daniel and Brian’s classic Washington DC wedding reception!? (Make sure you check out their outdoor wedding ceremony in Georgetown before you go on!) Black-tie weddings certainly have their own special charm. I’m not quite sure if it’s the elegant décor or the formality of the fashion, but whatever it is, I can’t get enough of it! But what I love even more about today’s wedding is the traditional Norwegien wedding cake—a kransekage— made by Daniel’s grandmother visiting from Norway. Don’t miss all the beautiful images from Jessica Del Vecchio Photography and Zoeica Images.

From Daniel: When we started thinking about what we wanted for our wedding, the bottom line was we wanted it to be a party people would not forget and that we would always remember as one of the greatest moments in our lives. When we began picking out invitations, we were immediately drawn to black and white, clean lines, and simple embellishments. We incorporated this throughout the day and brought in blue and green through our floral choices. While black and white can often bring the feeling of formality, the color added the perfect amount of fun, and overall, it ended up being exactly what we wanted.

My grandmother from Norway came for the wedding and made a traditional wedding cake that augmented the cake from the Four Seasons.

Daniel’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:

Negotiate, communicate, and make appointments. Talking was one of the greatest promises we made. We were sure to let the other person know exactly what we were thinking and didn’t parse our words. This made sure what we were thinking was not misinterpreted or taken out of context. Also, we made appointments (between Brian and I) for getting things from invitations, thank you notes, guest lists, etc. This kept us from getting overwhelmed and losing control of our timelines.
