Welcome back for the second part of Sarah and Mike’s casual Virginia wedding reception. After their handfasting wedding ceremony (Make sure you go check that out first!) and a few intimate portraits with Sanderson Images, this adorable duo and their small wedding party headed to EatBar in Arlington, where they rented out the back room and and arranged for a sampling of some of their best dishes, set out buffet style in lieu of a formal sit down dinner. Better yet, I’ll let the groom tell you all about their wedding day inspiration…

From Mike: After the ceremony it was time for portraits with the Sandersons and then we were off to EatBar, a local bar and restaurant in Arlington, for the after-party. We had rented out the back room and arranged for a sampling of some of their best dishes, set out buffet style in lieu of a formal sit down dinner. Our guests gradually made their ways home, leaving EatBar with a bag of chocolates from Cheryl and heart-shaped birdseed treats homemade by Sarah, but the delicious drinks and good company kept Sarah and I there until the bar closed.

Now here we are almost eight months later and when we reflect back on our wedding day the thing that sticks out most is that we were able to make it about us, about our relationship. We didn’t read a script or follow a formula; we did what we wanted, even when it wasn’t easy. And that is something we will always be proud of, that we took the time to really think about how to make our wedding meaningful to us and we followed through on our ideas. We’re excited to put as much dedication, care, and love into building our marriage as we put into building our wedding day. We want to treat our marriage the same way as we treated the wedding day: created out of our vision for our lives, based on what we think is best for our relationship.
