Welcome back to Layla and Mike’s dramatic purple wedding in Washington DC. Did you see their traditional wedding ceremony?? Be sure to check that out first! Let me tell you folks, I just love wedding that pairs a crisp design with a lush amount of stunning florals—especially when Elizabeth Duncan Events is behind the whole day! Andrea from The Observatory was on hand to capture all the pretty details from the day, including all of the romantic lighting like those adorable hanging votive candles!

From Layla: My main priority was the overall atmosphere, I wanted to make sure that everyone would enjoy themselves. Since we decided to get married in DC, I wanted to showcase DC, so having the Newseum as my venue was perfect, the view was incredible. I also splurged on the photographs since it was really important to me to have nice photographs.

I took a calligraphy class back in high school, so I decided to hand write all the escort cards, and my mom made some pillows for the reception.

Mike’s priority was the food, and we really lucked out with Wolfgang Puck Catering, they were easy to work with and they even compared crab cake recipes with Mike.

Layla’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:

A wedding planner is a must. I would not have been able to keep my sanity the day of the wedding if she wasn’t around to handle everyone. She gave me peace of mind knowing that I could send everyone to her when they had questions.
