A gorgeous celebration of love and family, Carly and Dan’s Virginia wedding captured by Stephen Bobb Photography couldn’t be more lovely if it tried. Did you see their outdoor wedding reception?? We just love things all DMV-related around here, so when I saw that Carly and Dan added a little local flair to their wedding reception, the excitement took over. This adorable duo nailed it with flowers and centerpieces sourced from local farms and a bar with Virginia beers and wines – I love every last detail!

From Carly: We didn’t want the reception to end – we were having way too much fun visiting old friends and family, playing with kids and dancing all night long. The evening flowed from high energy dancing to the unveiling of gorgeous mini-pie desserts. At the end of the night, our remaining guests lined up with the glow of sparklers to usher us into our new lives together as the lights twinkled in our eyes.

We made local, renewable ingredients a priority, making sure our in-house caterer used seasonable vegetable from nearby farmer’s markets. We were also able to convince our venue to provide beers made in Virginia – to match their Virginia vintage wines. All of our bridal flowers and centerpieces were sourced from local farms, through Local Color Flowers in Baltimore – this meant we wouldn’t know what our flowers would look like until our wedding day, but it made for a nice surprise on our wedding day.

Carly’s wedding planning advice to other DC-area couples:

Taste as many samples as you can – that was definitely one of the most fun parts of the planning process. We must have driven to two dozen local wineries and sampled 150 different wines within a 100 mile radius of DC. Tasting pie flavors (instead of cake) at Dangerously Delicious Pies and Pie Sisters was even more fun! Since they were close by, we were easily able to come back for seconds to decide between them and come back after the wedding for an extra special everyday treat.
