Welcome back to the second part of Jessica and Jason’s Virginia wedding. Before you go on to take in all the pretty captured by Jessica Schmitt Photography, make sure to check out their outdoor wedding ceremony first! I make it no secret that my favorite type of weddings are the ones that reflect a couple’s personality and when a “theme” is done right, it’s even better. Jessica and Jason brought the fun and cohesion to their celebration with music inspired details from concert ticket escort cards to the vinyl records that served as a guestbook – love it!
From Jessica: Each table represented a concert Jason and I had been to together. The escort cards were personalized tickets to that show. After hours upon hours on Pinterest and Etsy, I had a lot of ideas. I made too many trips to craft stores just trying things out to see what would and wouldn’t work. I was lucky to have people helping me that were creative and understood what I was trying to do, or at least pretended to. It all made sense and just worked once everything was together the day of the wedding.
Our main priority was to make sure our guests had fun. We went back and forth for awhile trying to decide if we wanted to do the photo booth. I’m so glad we did! Our guests loved it and it brought a completely different view of the reception pictures. We find something new in those pictures every time we look at them.
Music was a huge priority for us. Jason was in charge of the music. He spent months tinkering with song selection and playlist queue. He created playlists for pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception. We are lucky enough to have a few friends that know how to procure and run sound equipment. We did the music ourselves and had our friend, Cory, DJ. We gave him a list of must-play songs then let him feel-out the crowd and run with it. It was the first time he’s ever done that, but it was great.
