Welcome back to the second half of Anna and Tom’s Virginia wedding reception! By now, you should be knee deep in gorgeous after checking out their outdoor barn wedding ceremony. This beautiful day, captured by Rebecca Keeling Studios, is rich in DIY details and rustic details aplenty – it’s the perfect way to spend a Monday afternoon, if you ask me! And all of that fun and magical lighting (5,000 lights, can you believe it!?) is the result of the couple along with some help from their loved ones. Truly worth all of their hard work!

From Anna: Since we had a tight budget, with the help of our family and friends we did all the decorating ( to include spending 6+ hours putting up over 5,000 little white christmas lights) and transformed the blank canvas space into a magical location for our wedding!

For favors, we made little s’mores packets and had a fire pit outside for people to enjoy them during the reception.

We had a small wedding cake made by a family friend, and her daughter made a personalized wedding cake topper to show our professions! In addition to the small wedding cake, we had tons of pies from a nearby farm and my mom’s homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Anna’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:

Tom and I, after the ceremony and before being announced at the reception, snuck away from all of the festivities and took 10 minutes to ourselves. It was such a short, but amazing, time to just breathe and enjoy being married and take in the day together before we went and celebrated with everyone. I would recommend to every couple to cut that few minutes out and enjoy it because it will be over way too soon!
