You know we love celebrating this great city of Washington, DC and we love it even more when brides and grooms celebrate the city in their wedding details. Kate and Brian’s real wedding invitation suite definitely celebrates our nation’s capital and this city they feel in love in! You might remember Kate and Brian from their elegant country wedding in Washington, DC from a few months ago. If not, you can see their wedding ceremony here and their wedding reception here. Once you see their wedding and read their story, their wedding invitation suite will make sense! I was so in awe of their paper goods that I asked to feature them all on their own. Alisandra Photography was kind enough to shoot a few extra photos for us and Kate is giving us the backstory and their DC love story that inspired their invitations.
From Kate: We wanted personal, so we went straight to some of the people who know us best! The save the dates were created by one of Bryan’s groomsmen, Joshua Mikel. We really wanted something unique and personal and I did not want to use engagement photos. I gave him the date and location information, and a couple things that I wanted included — our dog, Ebbitt (named after the Old Ebbitt Grill!), the Georgetown skyline rising above the Key Bridge, and The Tombs sign. Beyond that, I gave him full creative liscence and this is what he came up with! It was one of my favorite parts of our wedding details.
More from Kate: The invitations were designed and developed by my cousin, Erinn Dulin and her friend, Jose Renteria. I wanted the chalkboard theme to carry through the wedding a bit. Erinn also designed the seating charts and the menus for the tables. (You can see those here.) I gave her very limited guidance. I knew I wanted the chalkboard theme and also that I didn’t want them to be traditional and formal. The font is a mixture of type font and actual handwriting, which Jose did.
Thank you so much Kate and Brian for sharing your “very DC” love story and wedding invitation suite with us! And thanks to the ladies at Cherry Blossom Events for sending this cute couple our way.
