Welcome back to the second half of Ashley and William’s black-tie affair in the city at The DuPont Circle Hotel. (Did you see their outdoor wedding ceremony at the Textile Museum?) With the help of Courtney of A Sweet Soiree, these two love birds planned a classic and glam Washington DC wedding reception where they brought in a little metallic and a little sparkle – the perfect combo if you ask me! Are you ready for all the loveliness??
From Ashley: We also had a number of details that were significant to us as a couple. At the reception we had champagne flutes, saved from our first trip together nearly 7 years ago, engraved with our names and wedding date. Because we were relocating to Chicago after the wedding, we gifted everyone Chicago’s famous Garrett’s popcorn with our new Chicago address attached. I also wore a Duke University garter (where William and I met during our freshman orientation, dated, and realized that we would spend the rest of our lives together).
From Ashley: Admittedly, I was not a crafty bride, but we did take on a few DIY projects, including all of our wedding day stationary. Will became an Adobe expert and did a fantastic job of creating all of the day of stationary including our signage, ceremony programs, photo guestbook and table numbers. We also created a wedding day coloring book for all of the children at the reception.
From Ashley: We also splurged on entertainment. We heard a great band during a date night on U Street and increased the budget to have them play during the reception.
Ashley’s advice for other couples planning a wedding:
Plan early, take your time and enjoy the process. Also, don’t forget to prepare for your marriage as well as your wedding day. The wedding is just a day but marriage is forever!
