Welcome back to the second half and Kate and Dennis’ bright and modern wedding in DC photographed by Timmester Photography. (Did you check out their Filipino wedding ceremony in Washington DC??) I’m majorly in love with the playful color palette, the Baltimore inspired wedding favors, and the beyond stunning and modern florals from B Floral and Event Design. This baseball loving couple even hosted a presidential guest – the Abe Lincoln mascot from the Washington Nationals!

From Kate: Neither of us are very DIY but we did what we could to make our wedding more personal. At the reception, we were able to display photos on the built in bookshelves so we displayed our grandparents’ wedding photos and photos with our family and wedding party. Our favors were Berger Cookies from Baltimore (Dennis’ hometown) and Beer Nuts from Bloomington, IL (Kate’s college town). We also brought in our love of baseball and, of course, Abe Lincoln by having the Nationals’ racing president at our reception. We also incorporated Dennis’ love of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens in his groom’s cake and his Filipino heritage with an ube cake on our cake buffet.

Our favorite detail from our wedding day was have Abe Lincoln there. We had told very few people about him coming so it was a great surprise. Our favorite memory from the day came from the end of our reception. The second to last song of the was We are Young by FUN. We ended up dancing in the middle of all of our family and friends. It was amazing to look around and see everyone that came together to support and celebrate our marriage. We so thankful that our DJ recorded the moment so we have it to go back to whenever we want.

Kate’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples: Our biggest tip is to trust your gut with your vendors. If you are on a tight budget, there are times you feel like you have to go with someone because they work within your budget, even if you don’t love them. Not true, spend the time, read the reviews, and really go with your gut. These will be the people surrounding you for most of your wedding day, you need to be comfortable with them. Our day was phenomenal because we had GREAT vendors that listened to us and truly understood what we wanted.
