Good morning to you! Don’t fully get into the holiday spirit just yet, because we are going back to the summer with Brenda and Glenn’s wedding in Washington, DC. With a color palette of bright pink and sparkly gold, they were married at Mandarin Oriental. Their main goal was to make it easy for their guests with the ceremony and reception all in one location and with one look at the hotel’s outdoor garden, they were sold! My favorite detail from their wedding, captured by Ethan Yang Photography, is definitely their custom “B & G” monogram designed by the bride’s brother-in-law. It makes an appearance at the ceremony, but it really shows up at the reception, so look out for it later this morning.
From Brenda: We didn’t have a specific vision in mind, but when we saw that Mandarin Oriental had an outdoor garden, we knew we wanted to get married there. The location of the venue was important to us since we had guests coming from both Virginia and Maryland. We also opted to have the ceremony and reception in one location for the same reason. We just wanted to make it easy for us and our guests. For our color palette, we chose bright pink and gold. We incorporated that into each detail including our BG logo that was made by my brother in law. Most of our inspiration came from Pinterest and wedding blogs, but we put our own spin on it to make it our own.
From Brenda: The most amazing handmade detail at the wedding was my veil made by my mom. It was a beautiful cathedral length veil with lace along the scalloped edges. I sent her a picture of my dress and she immediately started working on the veil. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was when she showed it to me the first time. I am truly lucky to have a mom like mine!
From Brenda: For the flower girls and ring bearer, I wanted to do something special for them. Instead of flowers, we decided to go with pink and white 36″ round balloons. We thought it would be fun and they would have a better time playing with the balloons instead of flowers that tend to fall apart anyway. We also thought it would be cute to give the flower girls gold lace crowns. These beautiful crowns were made by my talented sister. I’m pretty lucky to have such a crafty family!
