Welcome back to the second half of Kate and Bryan’s country and equestrian inspired Washington DC wedding! But before you take in all the pretty, did you see their gorgeous DC wedding ceremony? After a few stunning portraits with Alisandra Photography in front of the U.S. Capitol building at sunset, they headed to Sewall-Belmont House and Museum where they wowed guests with DIY and personal wedding details galore! Bryan and his best man brewed one of the beers (named Brewlywed IPA) for the bar, and beer labels were created another groomsman. Kate’s cousin designed all of the paper products, including invitations, seating chart, and menus, while Kate and the rest of her family created the rocking horse place cards and horse shoe table name signs!

From Kate:  The band and the bar were our top priorities at the reception, and both were probably on the splurge side for us. The full Winn Brothers band was incredible and they kept the dance floor packed the entire evening. We passed on a wedding cake, opting for a dessert table and a small grooms cake instead, and we took our chances on Uber (it was great!) instead of hiring a car or limo for the wedding party.

Kate’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples: When it comes to budgeting, identify your priorities and let that guide your decisions. If you can afford to hire a day/month – of coordinator (which I recommend), make sure s/he is someone you trust. By the time our wedding day came along, Alex from Cherry Blossom Events knew how I wanted the day to go, and it was incredibly valuable to me that the morning of the wedding I could say to her, “you’re in charge now, I’m just along for the ride.”
