Hello and welcome back to Megan and Kevin’s wedding in Baltimore. (Did you see their outdoor, urban wedding ceremony?) They kept their wedding truly personal and served an entirely vegan menu to their guests – yum! In addition to keeping it simple, they really wanted to celebrate the fall season with pumpkins as decor and apple butter favors, plus give their guests a little taste of Baltimore. I couldn’t stop adding pictures of the food and their cake! Jacqueline of Readyluck was there to photograph their special day including take them around Baltimore for some beautiful portraits and right on into the night for lots of fun!
From Megan: It was really important to us that things were very hospitable to our wedding guests. Many of our friends and family traveled long distances to be with us, so we wanted them to feel welcomed. Our wedding was completely vegan, and we wanted to present our guests with truly amazing vegan food to show them how delicious it can be. We also wanted to show them some of the best parts of Baltimore. The wedding was held in historic Mt. Vernon, a particularly charming neighborhood.
From Megan: Jacqueline made things really easy for us. The first look and pre-ceremony photos helped us relax and ease into being the center of attention. Walking around downtown Baltimore in my wedding dress to capture our urban portraits was one of the most memorable parts of my day.
From Kevin: Megan spent countless hours on Pinterest and other wedding blogs, but ultimately it was our amazing planner, Elle Ellinghaus, who was the visionary. She has a great sense of style and aesthetics, and she decorated the venue beautifully. We used her recommendation for the venue, the flowers, the caterer… even the colors. We trusted her completely and it worked out better than we could have hoped!
Megan and Kevin’s advice for other DC area couples planning a wedding:
Get a planner! Totally worth the money. Definitely try to have a day-of coordinator at least, so you don’t have to worry about anything during the reception. Hire a professional photographer whose style fits yours. Don’t try to find the least expensive one, either; good photos are not cheap. Also, try to do as many portraits as possible before the reception, so you can enjoy the party. Keep it simple. Focus on the details that mean the most to you, and let go of the small things. At the end of the day, you get to marry your favorite person. What else matters?
