All you need for truly spectacular Washington DC marriage proposal – other than a great ring, that is! – is a secret photographer waiting on the sidelines to capture every moment. I am loving Christine and Jason’s engagement on the National Mall with Susan Lines Photography, especially their cute story on how he proposed! Read on to hear how Jason pulled off an entire week of surprises for this unsuspecting birthday girl!
From Susan: Jason decided that instead of celebrating Christine’s birthday just one day of the year, he would make it a birthday week. Each day she would receive a voucher. These vouchers were things like flowers at the front desk at work, dinner, movie night, and the like. Her voucher on Friday was for a stunning piece of jewelry (not the ring!), but Christine thought it was just a great vintage piece that Jason found.
Her voucher on Saturday was for coffee and a walk to the National Mall. When they got to the designated spot, Jason said he had one more voucher for her.He then handed her a letter that explained that the necklace she got the night before wasn’t just any necklace, but a necklace that belonged to his godmother that was given to him to give to his future wife.
From Jason: On Saturday, Christine had planned on having people over to her house to celebrate her birthday, but I had a voucher delivered to her in the morning suggesting that we grab coffee and go for a walk on the National Mall. This gift felt like a bit of a drop-off from the previous days, but little did she know I had the ring in my pocket and had coordinated with Susan Lines Photography to capture the proposal. I gave her a card explaining just how much she meant to me, and included one “bonus voucher.” This voucher read “Please exchange this voucher to say: ‘Yes’ (never expires)” Her reaction is captured in the wonderful photos!
Congratulations Christine and Jason!
