Welcome back to the second part of Lauren and Chad’s vineyard wedding in Virginia! Did you see their wedding ceremony outside? You know we love a vineyard wedding around here and now that we are at their reception, you’ll get to see the really fun and festive wine cork decorations that they made! They were able to use the corks in the escort card table and different signage throughout the reception. I just love how it all turned out! And that cake and dessert bar – yum! Andrea & Renata were there to capture it all.

From Lauren: Our first DIY project was to make words out of wine bottle corks. We made cork words for “Bar”, “Mr. & Mrs”, and finally we turned a few into hearts to line the isle. Our party favors were homemade as well – chocolate dipped pretzel sticks designed to look like a bride and groom.

From Lauren: The majority of Chad’s family is from Pittsburgh. Well, a true Pittsburgh wedding has a giant cookie table. As you can imagine, this is a large table filled with homemade cookies from the family. Unbeknownst to my family, this is a huge deal and is not just dessert. The cookie table is actually opened up and picked clean between cocktail hour and dinner. This was a really fun surprise for all of my family and friends who have never experienced this.

Lauren’s advice for other couples planning a wedding in the DC area:

We had such an amazing time, just remember to focus on what you really want and try to enjoy it. One of the best pieces of advice we got was this:

Your wedding day is going to fly by so fast, it is INCREDIBLY important that you remember to take a few minutes to yourselves. Either during dinner or just after, grab a drink and slip away, just the two of you for three minutes for a little private toast and congratulatory kiss just between the two of you. I promise, you will be happy you did!

Also, we’d like to thank all of our vendors, they were absolutely wonderful and really worked together to make our day a huge success!

As a special treat we have Lauren and Chad’s wedding video from Blue Sky Films. You can really see that beautiful Virginia sky on the vineyard in the video – wow!
