Happy Monday! Jennifer and Burke have been together for nine years and live in Georgia. They choose to have a destination wedding in Maryland because of the legalization of gay marriage in Maryland. Their wedding – photographed by Voula Trip Photography – was small and intimate with a guest count of around 50 people with many guests traveling from all over the country to be a part of the day. My favorite thing has to be their venue! The rented a house in Cambridge, MD right on the Chesapeake Bay because of their love of the water. With the help of friends and family, most of their wedding was DIY – they made their bouquets, the floral decor, the signs, the cake, and even their invitations!

From Jennifer:  We really wanted to make sure that the site was outdoors and light and airy so that our guests felt relaxed and comfortable. We chose white with tiffany blue and burlap accents to keep things simple. We really wanted a great photographer, food, and live music during the ceremony. We chose not to get a DJ for the reception, because it was such a small wedding. We thought our guests would have enough fun with ipod DJ, which worked out pretty well. We also put together our own flower arrangements and the signage, chalkboards and other signs. We also made our own invitations. By getting a free stationary template offline and printing the invites on our own, we saved a lot of money. The best thing for us was being able to share our vows with one another in front of the water. We met while rowing and love the outdoors, so it was the perfect setting for our wedding day.
