Hiring a secret photographer to capture the intimate moments of your proposal is something anyone planning on proposing should seriously consider! Take a cue from Rob, who planned his Washington DC proposal to Mary this summer with Rachel Harrod Photography to secretly snap away in the distance. After she said “yes” on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial, their celebration continued with a quick mini-engagement session. Read on for more about the proposal story from both Mary and Rob!
From Mary: It was the perfect morning at the perfect place to go for our run together. I love our Saturday morning runs as it is our time to catch up on the past week, share stories and continue to grow even closer. When we arrived at the Jefferson Memorial, I was excited to get to the top so I took off. Rob suddenly called my name and as I turned around he was on one knee. I knew instantly this was the most meaningful moment of me life as I will get to spend the rest of my life with best friend.
From Rob: The first four miles of the run were a complete blur and I couldn’t tell you what we were even talking about, I just made sure to listen to Mary, laugh at her jokes, and keep rehearsing my proposal speech in my head. Finally, we round the corner to the memorial, I see Rachel snapping photos, I try to get Mary to the spot where I had planned, I tell her I need to tie my shoe, get down on one knee, and she is half way up the steps to go see the memorial! As I called her name she turned around and she was completely surprised. Mary immediately walked over to me, I got done my speech, asked for her hand, and the rest is history.
Congratulations Mary and Rob!
