Hang onto your pretty this morning as we share Patty and David’s wedding in Maryland! They had a picture perfect fall day in October for their outdoor wedding ceremony – photographed by Paige Elizabeth Photography and planned by Kelley Cannon Events – on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in St. Michaels. Between starting the day in beautiful Plum Pretty Sugar robes to her stunning lace Monique Lhuillier wedding dress and that unbelievable backdrop for their wedding ceremony, I’m not sure what I love more?! Make sure you come back for their garden-inspired reception a little later this morning.
From Patty: I loved wedding planning. As an event planner myself, it came naturally and I wanted to be part of every decision. Above all else, I wanted our wedding day to be representative of us as a couple. I wanted it to feel like us. I didn’t want to follow tradition, “Just Because…” I wanted all of the elements to tell our story. I’m from Maryland and my husband is a die-hard Texan. Although I happily call Houston my home now, we picked St. Michaels, Maryland as a backdrop for our wedding because we wanted our guests, who were mostly from out-of-state, to get a taste of Maryland while also enjoying a weekend away from the hustle and bustle. The inspiration for our wedding really stemmed from our venue. We wanted hints of nautical accents not only to represent my Maryland heritage, but also as a nod to my husband’s love for boating and my love for the water, both as a former competitive swimmer and beach-goer. We coupled those accents with a more relaxed, romantic, garden-like feel.
More from Patty: Among many other things, my mom surprised me on the day of our wedding by making our ring bearer’s pillow from the lace of her wedding dress. She also let me wear her grandmother’s beautiful gold-filigree diamond brooch on a piece of lace around the stems of my bouquet as my something old.
More from Patty: Our wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect. The sun was shining, the water was glistening, and we were surrounded by all of our friends and family. My favorite part of the day was our ceremony, our vows, to be exact. We wrote our own and didn’t share them with each other prior to our wedding day. David’s words were so beautiful and I will always remember that moment for the rest of my life as this amazing man finally became my husband.
