Welcome back to Sarah and David’s DIY-amazing wedding in Virginia! Did you miss their outdoor wedding ceremony? The DIY details continued right on into their reception with the florals, the decor, the photobooth and even the desserts! L Hewitt Photography was there to capture all of those pretty flowers!

From Sarah: We wanted everyone to have a good time, so we focused on having tasty food, an awesome DJ, and great photos. We used a local restaurant, Lebanese Taverna, for our catering because they had so many delicious vegetarian options (and were more flexible than a traditional caterer.) DJ D-Mac was awesome and everyone danced like crazy! And there through it all was our wonderful photographer Leah. She did an amazing job and I am so grateful that she was there to capture all the love and joy on camera. When I got our preview pictures back, I actually burst out crying because they were so perfect.

From Sarah: We did a lot of DIY projects for the wedding. For example, I collected pasta jars and wine bottles for 8 months for the centerpieces and we bought flowers from a local wholesaler and had a flower arranging party the day before the wedding. The co-maids of honor and I even made our own bouquets! There was a tremendous outpouring of support from friends too. One friend took a day off work and baked 100 cupcakes. Another volunteered to be our photobooth photographer. A third friend in Denver sent me pinwheel decorations that she had made while studying in law school!

Sarah’s advice for other DC area couples:

Just because you live in the DC area doesn’t mean you have to have a super expensive wedding if you don’t want to. Pay attention to what your partner cares about. And have fun! Not everything will go to plan, but try not to worry about it too much, because at the end of the day you’ll still be married! Just focus on the love you feel and everything else will fall into place.
