Welcome back to to Shannon and Ryan’s wedding in Virginia! If you missed their sweet wedding ceremony, you can check it out first. I can’t think of anything more romantic than dancing your first dance under those perfectly strung cafe lights! Good thing Documentary Associates was there to capture it all, including their pretty little pink wedding cake.

From Shannon:  Also, we are very social as a couple, so another priority was good music and a venue that allowed for mingling. We decided not to do assigned seating so that our guests could sit and eat wherever they would like on the property and not get stuck in one place for too long. We had a large wedding (about 260 guests) and it worked out perfectly. It was an added bonus to not have to stress over a seating chart!

From Shannon: Our entrance to the reception as bride and groom is my favorite memory of our wedding day. We were having so much fun dancing that we almost forgot where we were for a moment. We both took a second to look out at the crowd and it was an overwhelming, beautiful feeling.

Shannon’s advice to other couples in the DC area:

Everyone tells you not to skimp on the photography, and it is so true. We spent more time researching photographers than anything else and we’re so thankful that we did. The day went by so incredibly quick, making it hard to capture all the memories mentally, but the photographer is able to make those moments last a lifetime. The photographs of our wedding are truly priceless.

One of the best pieces of advice I received was to pour a glass of wine during any sort of wedding planning. It can get very stressful at times, so try to make it fun and enjoyable for you and your future spouse. Also, not everything will go just as you planned, and it’s just like everyone says…no one will notice and no one will care. They are there to celebrate with you, and that’s all that matters.
