I saved the best for last! Although, now that we are at the end of our Washington DC area wedding venue search series it means that summer is coming to an end. How sad?! That’s OK though, we love a good fall wedding in the DC area around here too! Today, we are talking budget and venues. These are the best wedding venues within the “affordable” category. I know that what is and isn’t affordable is different for each couple. So, for the purposes of this post we asked a few of the best wedding planners in the DC area their favorite affordable venues and gave them a criteria of 120 guests for a total wedding budget of $20,000 or less. (The average cost of a wedding in the DC area is around $35,000 and the average size guest list is little bit over 100 guests, so that’s how we got to 120 guests for $20,000.)

I know it can seem hard to have a wedding in the DC area for this price range and this guest list size, but the truth is that it can be done and it is done all the time – quite beautifully, might I add! (And, couples are married for a lot less than this too!) If you are on a strict budget in the DC area, you need be creative and spend money only on the things that matter the most to you and skip the rest! In addition, to the standard advice of getting married on a Friday in the off-season or having a brunch instead of a sit-down dinner, there are a few other things you can do to find an affordable wedding venue in the DC area. You will want to look for venues that have a very low rental fee, such as parks and government-owned spaces. Luckily, the DC area is home to many of these venue options! You can also look for venues that offer a lot for your money, so venues that are all-inclusive and whose rental fee includes tables, chairs, linens and perhaps even, food. In this case, the less you have to bring in the better and the more affordable! Also, venues that allow you to bring in your own alcohol are great options, because it is generally cheaper to buy your own booze.
