We are back with more of Ashely and Eric’s rustic, yet elegant springtime wedding in Maryland. Did you see their gorgeous wedding ceremony outside? I had the hardest time selecting pictures from Birds of a Feather Photography, because each of the flower arrangements was more beautiful than the next! I just love all of the little jars and vases. In addition to all of the rustic-meets-pretty decor, I enjoyed hearing about all of the DIY touches and little things that Ashley did to personalize their wedding. So sweet!
From Ashley: I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to be hands on in the styling, planning and details of our wedding. I stained wooden crates and wrapped mason jars in jute and lace for the flower arrangements. Handmade caramels for the favors. Even cut my own table runners from a roll of raw burlap. I really fell in love with the entire process and when everything came together in the end fell in love all over again!
More from Ashley: My main priority for the wedding was food. I’m a real foodie and always noticed the stigma surrounding wedding food. I wanted people to walk away from their tables raving about their meal and I was very pleased to have gotten just that!
Ashely’s advice for other DC area couples: If you want to be hands on, go for it! My only advice is to give yourself a deadline for all of your DIY projects. Also, don’t hesitate to ask for help. My bridesmaids were waiting at every turn to help out and looking back I should have utilized them more.
