It goes without question that The American Visionary Art Museum is one of the most unique wedding venues in our area, and it was the perfect fit for Ilissa and Lisa’s quirky Baltimore-centric Maryland wedding. Despite a rare October snowstorm, their guests ventured out to celebrate with them at their ultra-personalized ceremony, and Jennifer McMenamin Photography was there to capture it all. The couple included family and friends in every aspect, and Ilissa’s father, unable to attend for health reasons, was even Skyped in for the big day! You can truly tell this day was filled with love, and this is only just the beginning (come back later for their reception)!

From Ilissa: We really wanted our wedding to be fun, quirky, and relaxed, and to reflect our love of Baltimore. The American Visionary Art Museum was perfect; I wanted to get married there way before I ever met Lisa! Who wouldn’t want to have a ceremony in such a festive room, with a giant pink poodle, a spinning paper-mache drag queen, a Baltimore row house, and a hot air balloon?

My favorite moments include walking down the aisle with my mom, our private pre-wedding ceremony with our rabbi to sign the ketubah, and sneaking out of the reception with our amazing photographer to take pictures outside by Baltimore’s landmark Domino’s Sugar sign in the freezing cold.
