How about we kick off the week with a little something striped and preppy!? Christine and Shaun’s Virginia wedding from Laurie Bracewell Photography incorporated a preppy feel, their Irish heritage and both their home states (But you’ll have to wait until later for that!). They managed to even find an Irish venue, The Blackthorne Inn! It was the perfect backdrop for their outdoor nuptials, which included a traditional Irish hand fasting ceremony!
From Christine: Our wedding can really be described in 3 words: country, preppy and Irish. Being that I’m a graphic designer, I’m a very visual person. Even before Pinterest became a go-to for brides, I had started our wedding inspiration board and as we added images, a “country preppy” theme developed. Our color palette was navy, green and white. And our details included mason jars, burlap, lanterns and stripes. It was also very important to us to incorporate our Irish heritage and where we both grew up (me- New Hampshire, Shaun- Virginia).
We chose to mix up our wedding party a bit, having my brother as my “Man of Honor” and Shaun having his sister as his “Best Woman”.
The entire day and every detail was so perfect, but my favorite memory from our wedding was walking with my Dad from the Inn, through the reception tent and down the aisle. I was able to see all the details come together, all of our favorite people and (finally) Shaun waiting at the end of the aisle.
Our top priority was for our wedding to really represent “us”. Our Irish heritage came alive throughout the day not only with our venue (The Blackthorne Inn- “An Irish oasis in the VA Hunt Country”), but with an Irish blessing, hand fasting ceremony, a sixpence in my shoe, live Celtic music and the Irish Whiskey flowing into the early morning!
