Happy Monday! Jodi and Chris embraced their home state through and through for the quaint and classic Virginia wedding, captured by Birds of a Feather and planned by Karson Butler Events! To a sleek and sophisticated palette they added nods to the state all throughout their day (but you’ll have to wait until their reception a little later this morning for the best of them!). A last minute storm brought their ceremony indoors, but I absolutely love their intimate ceremony by the fireplace, and those dramatic black chairs!

River Farm Wedding Virginia

From Jodi: Chris and I both really love our home state, Virginia, for many reasons: it’s history, broad culture, and beauty. We knew right away that we wanted a VA themed wedding at an old Colonial home. We wanted our wedding to be quaint but classy. Less was more, quality over quantity. I’ve always known since I was a little girl I wanted a red, black and White wedding (way before black and white weddings were the in thing). We wanted a mix of history and trend… a mix of both modern and Victorian details at the wedding.

The location was the most important part of the wedding. We needed to find a place that gave the perfect vibe of Virginia class. River Farm was perfect, as soon as I walked the grounds I was in love.

Virginia Wedding Ceremony Music Indoor Wedding Ceremony

My favorite memory from the wedding day was the ceremony. Chris and I wrote our vows and our officiant did an amazing job telling our story. When the string trio is laughing and crying right along with your guests you know you have a good show! The ceremony was supposed to take place in the gardens but a cold front with rain rolled in the night before. The indoor location was more intimate and fitted our theme more than the garden setting. It worked out in our favor in the end.
