We’re back with Jodi and Chris’ Virginia-themed wedding reception from Birds of a Feather and Karson Butler Events (Did you see their wedding ceremony?)! Their tables were Virginia nicknames and facts and they even included a bit of history about the state, and the venue, in their menus! How fantastic is that!? They also included another fun and classic detail: silhouettes. This manifested in both a one-of-a-kind guest book and a silhouette artist! There really is a new detail to see at every turn. Check it out!

From Jodi: There were several DIY projects. The most significant was the wedding favors. My sister, the MOH, and I hand painted the chalkboard paint onto Mason-Jar mugs with a template. The lip was the escort card, made to look like a jam lid. The Mason-Jar was a common theme through the decorations. The little black bow was a common detail throughout the wedding.

It was really important that at every corner there was a detail that totally showed Chris and my personality. We accomplished this in so many ways with little things like having a canvas with our silhouette on it to sign instead of a guest book.

Our reception tables were Virginia nicknames / facts like Mother State Table, Cavalier State, or VA Peanuts Table. In the each menu on the table there was a story about the VA nickname that ended with a little fun fact about me and Chris.

Jodi’s advice for other DC-area couples:

My advice is not to stress over things you can’t control like the weather. Work with vendors that know each other. It was like a high school graduation when my venders got together. I had no worries that they would work well together and make my special day perfect. Get travel insurance for your honeymoon! Find a photographer that understands your style.
