For Michelle and Joseph’s reception, seen through the lens of Amber Reinink, they moved from the wedding ceremony outdoors to the barn, but brought all of those natural elements with them in their decor. Organically styled tables and lantern favors for every guest stood out at their celebration and kept the feel of their day cohesive and interactive (the guests lit their lanterns during the toast!).
From Michelle: In decorating we used natural elements, fire (lots of candles), water, earth (rocks), metal, and wood. Plus, I love the mood candlelight sets. We were aiming for simple, natural, timeless and fun.
A few of my favorite memories include everyone lighting their lanterns during the toast and looking up during the dancing at the reception and seeing everyone looking back at us, smiling, laughing, and raising their arms in celebration.
Michelle’s advice to other DC-are couples:
Go as slow as you can on your wedding day. Take a deep breath and look around you at various points of the day. It is over before you know it (even contemplate extending your reception for an hour). Enjoy each moment, especially the ones you didn’t plan!
