Happy Monday everyone! We’re jumping back into the week with a romantic Virginia wedding from Ethan Yang Photography. There are a few details from this wedding that stole my heart. First, those flowers by Holly Chapple Flowers! Mary and John went with a palette of purples and golds, and the bouquets hues are so soft and stunning. In a totally different direction, I fell for the quirky groomsmen cufflinks, based off classic video game elements! But perhaps the most impressive of elements? The invitations that Mary and John letterpress printed themselves. Quite the undertaking but, as you’ll see, well worth the beautiful results! Be sure to check back in a bit for more stunning florals and stationery at their reception!
From Mary: I would have to say that the theme for our wedding was “elegant” and our colors were deep purple and vintage gold. There wasn’t one item that inspired us, but there was a lot of tweaking and changes that were made along the way.
Our biggest project handmade project was the invitations. We letterpressed our own invitations. Did I get it right the first time? No. Did I get it right the second time? Nope. Did I get it right the 100th time? Not even close. But after persistence and lots of bad invitations, we perfected our technique. Not only did we make our invitations and RSVP cards, we were able to letterpress our own menus and our thank you cards. Just be prepared to roll up your sleeves and just keep on trying.
I gave full power to our florist and she was able to create bouquets and centerpieces beyond my wildest dreams.
I think the amount of time I spent on the wedding made it even more special to me. The countless hours making our invitations and searching the internet for ideas and finally seeing everything pulled together at the end was worth it.
