Megan and Patrick carried their punchy color palette and nod to the South right on through to their reception at Collingwood Library and Museum in Virginia. (Did you catch their wedding ceremony in Washington DC, captured by Documentary Associates?) They had his and her cocktails, fried chicken, and a guest list with some serious moves. In fact, Megan gifted Patrick, a self-proclaimed hip hop connoisseur, a custom pair of high-tops, in their wedding colors! Everyone was ready to get their dance on and this reception looks like a total blast.
From Megan: The reception food and drink was a our top priority. We wanted the food to reflect our southern tastes, but still be wedding appropriate. We worked with Kate Brannack from Occasions to create the perfect menus. I still receive compliments about the fried chicken! As far as drink goes, open bar was a must as we had a lot of people coming in from out of town who were ready to party!
Patrick fancies himself as a hip-hop connoisseur, so as a wedding gift I had a pair of high-top Nike Air Force 1’s made in our wedding colors. Our wedding date is stitched into the side.
Megan’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Planning a DC wedding was rather stressful as we had champagne taste on a beer budget. What was possible and affordable in Richmond was astronomical here. My best advice is to really do some research and don’t throw out venues outside of the city.
