Stephanie and James’ Virginia wedding day, captured by Amanda Dorian Photography, was elegant with a serious touch of sparkle! They had to do something to live up to James’ proposing in a helicopter with his proposal written on a hillside! Back on the ground, and several months later, the duo said “I do” in the same church James’ parents did and then headed to a fun and glamorous reception! I absolutely love the sparkling mismatched frames that held their table numbers, and how stunning they looked atop navy linens and against pale pink blooms. What a very refreshing choice for a fall color palette!
From Stephanie: The goal of my wedding was to look elegant and beautiful but have an atmosphere of the most fun any one has ever had at wedding. When I first began planning my wedding I really wanted to use pale pinks with a champange/gold color palette and have a very romantic whimsical feel. However since it was in Novemeber it was hard to visualize using those colors at that time of year. Choosing the color palette was probably one of the most difficult decisions I had to make during the wedding planning process. I ended up use Navy after I had finally found a bridesmaid dress I liked. We didn’t end up fully committing to the color palette until about two months before the wedding. We added touches of pale pink, and mainly used pale pink roses so I was glad I got a little of my original vision.
The church we had our ceremony at is also the church James’ parents were married at so that was very special. My favorite memory was seeing my his face as I walked down the aisle!
Stephanie’s advice to other DC-area couples:
If you can, get a wedidng planner. Without Stephanie Grimm of Couture Parties I probably would have lost my mind! Since a major proirity for us was having our guests enjoy themselves we knew the two key things would be the caterer & the DJ. They make or break the wedding experience.
