Funnily enough, the fact that Lauren and Brennan got married at The Maryland Zoo wasn’t the wildest thing about their wedding in Maryland! In addition to the safari animals and leopard print shoes, Lauren’s wedding band ended up at the bottom of a lake. But with a good outcome, I must say! I hope you all are ready to show your wild side this Wednesday because tPoz Photography’s photos are about to bring it out of you (and again later this morning with their reception)!
From Lauren: I think our wedding was quirky, but still classic. Once we decided on a venue, the Mansion House at the Maryland Zoo, we let that dictate the overall vision. I often found myself describing the look as “Vintage Safari”, and we ended up deciding to go to Kenya for our honeymoon so it all tied in nicely. This wound up leading to lots of earth tones, vibrant lush green foliage, and rich, red-orange in our color palette.
My favorite detail was probably the fact that we got to have a penguin and alligator attend our cocktail hour! Also, my dad’s bow tie, because he practiced so hard learning how to tie one properly!
For our ceremony, we had a cellist and classical guitarist who played “Maps” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs when I walked down the aisle.
Our ceremony was held at a pavilion overlooking a pond. When the best man handed the rings off to the officiant, my wedding band fell in the lake! When it happened I was totally in the moment, and just kept whispering to my husband and the officiant not to worry about it and keep going.
We were whisked away to do some more photos as soon as we finished the ceremony, when I heard a big cheer coming from the ceremony site below- the best man had fished the ring out using my uncle’s cane! He ran it up to us, and luckily our photographer was able to catch the moment when I actually got my ring.
