We are back, as promised, with day two of Renee and Ramsey’s weekend wedding extravaganza from Photographick Studios! And I have to say, I’m a little more than obsessed with their color palette of choice for their Hindu wedding ceremony and reception, vibrant blue and magenta! While the first wedding day was casual, rustic and full of DIY, day two was full of luxury, glamour and tradition. Take a look, I bet you can’t get enough of this stunner either!
From Renee: We both wanted to do a traditional Bengali/Hindu wedding but with a modern twist. This is reflected in our invitations, decor, and clothing. We departed slightly from traditional Indian wedding colors by choosing magenta and blue for our color scheme. We carefully chose mandap and aisle decorations– a sleeker more minimal version of you would normally see at an Indian wedding.
My favorite moment was peeking out the window of the Westfields Marriott to watch Ramsey riding the horse (for the Baraat part of the Indian ceremony). Ramsey also agrees that his favorite part was riding the horse. He relished the opportunity to wear his Chinese broad sword with his sherwani and turban (he’s an avid sword collector).
Renee’s advice to other DC-area couples:
If you’re doing more than one ceremony, hire a wedding planner– even if it is a partial wedding planning package. That said, I would definitely recommend all brides to hire a day-of-coordinator. While family and friends will be there to help, it’s extremely useful to have one or two professionals dealing with vendors, the venue, overall coordination, etc. Rely on your family and friends for other details– making sure you’ve had something to eat and drink before the ceremony, running last minute errands, etc. Always consider the advice of your family members when planning your wedding, but remember it is your day. Do what you want to do, even if it causes your family temporary distress. Remember, no matter what, they will be overcome with joy on the day of the wedding.
