I’m head over heels for today’s unique, jewel toned palette! Kristen and Aaron’s Virginia wedding featured purple, red and a whole lot of gold. My favorite! Captured by Porter Watkins, the manor at Belmont Country Club makes for a truly regal backdrop for Kristen and Aaron’s “I do’s.” When you pair gold with those rich tones, you know you’re in for one spectacular treat! From Kristen: Picking the venue was easy, I chose Belmont Country Club because it is owned by the company I work for Toll Brothers. I’ve visited there on many occasions and thought it was beautiful. Once I picked the venue I really just tried to tailor the rest of the wedding around the venue. The Manor home at Belmont is more on the sophisticated side so I went more sophisticated with invitations, having the guys in tuxes and the girls in floor length dresses.
One of my favorite details was the monogrammed “B” handkerchief napkin that my sister gave me.
I choose the color purple because of the season and I paired it with red and gold because I love jewel tones.
I did a rose ceremony for my father who is deceased. I carried a single red rose down the aisle along with my bouquet. I also had a photo of my father placed in a chair alongside the aisle. Before meeting my husband at the altar I stopped and placed the single red rose on my father’s chair. We also did jumping of the broom which is traditional at African American weddings
Overall Aaron and I are a pretty goofy couple so my favorite moment was probably when we were exchanging rings. I was sure to put his ring on really nice and tight. The everyone laughed and it really relieved some of my nerves.
