I just adore seeing weddings held at home, especially when the home is a farm is pretty as this one! Laurie and Dave’s wedding in Maryland, captured by Borrowed Blue Photography, shows just how to have a casual, yet elegant, at home affair. They also chose one of my favorite new traditions, a wine and love letters box, to incorporate in their ceremony! And, Laurie’s dress….wow!
From Laurie: Our wedding was casual and rustic. We wanted to incorporate sage and tan elements into our decor to offset the creams and whites of the flowers. We were inspired by the beautiful setting of my parents’ farm.
My favorite memory is our first look.
I’m Catholic and Dave is Jewish, and we wanted to have a simple, short ceremony with traditions taken from each religion. In place of the Catholic unity candle, we nailed the lid on a box containing a bottle of wine and letters we wrote to one another detailing the things we love about each other. The plan is to open the box, wine, and letters on our 25th anniversary. In keeping with the Jewish faith, Dave stepped on the glass at the end of the ceremony. It was a really casual yet meaningful ceremony to both of us, and I think we smiled the entire time!
